Sekinchan, Selangor, Malaysia

Made a family trip to Sekinchan on a fine Sunday. Sekinchan is a small town that still exudes its quaint charm despite its relative proximity to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

A seafood restaurant adjoining the house of the owner is not an uncommon sight in the suburban areas of Selangor. It is somewhat reminiscent of the shophouses of the olden days, where trade is carried our at the front of the house while residence is placed at the rear.
The laid back charm of Sekinchan, reinforced by the virtually zero traffic over a wide swathe of road, makes for an ideal weekend getaway for KL-lites.
Provision shops have slowly been displaced by the air-conditioned malls.
Aptly named ‘The Grandmother’s house’, the shophouse has been fashioned into a cosy wooden house.
